Thinking of you on the Open Sea

I've needed a few masculine "Thinking of You" cards this week and the Sketch Challenge over at Try Stampin' On Tuesday was great for this card!
It's been a while since I've played with my Open Sea set and I forgot how much I like it. I wasn't sure about stamping the partial images on the squares, but in the end I was pretty happy with how it turned out.  Simple card, but perfect for the friend who will receive it :)

Supplies Used:

Paper ~ Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake
Ink ~ Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy
Stamp Sets ~ The Open Sea, Sweet Essentials
Other Supplies ~ Metallic Brads, Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine, Square Punch

Bootiful Christmas

Do you ever start working on a card and come up with an idea for a totally different card?  This happens to me all the time, which is why I often have such a mess of a craft desk.  I always seem to have 2 or 3 projects in the works...but at least I finish them and clean my desk off before the day is done.  (Only to mess it up again the next day!)
I was working on a birthday card for my dear friend DeeDee, when the idea struck me to make a Christmas card using the cowboy boot from Bootiful Occasions. Yee Haw!!  Maybe I was still in non-traditional holiday stamp mode from the latest challenge over at The Friday Mashup. :)
I kept this very simple, adding just a bit of sparkle along the stitching on the boot and the brads to give a little extra western touch.

Supplies Used:

Paper ~ Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Festival of Prints DSP
Ink ~ Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler
Stamp Sets ~ Bootiful Occasions, Merry Minis, Sweet Essentials
Other Supplies ~ Simply Scored, Metallic Brads, Merry Minis {star} Punch, Dazzling Details

I think I may have to make a few more of these to send out to all of my horse loving friends this Christmas!

Dynamic Duo First Christmas

The birthday and holiday crunch has hit at our house.  With my twins birthday just 6 days before Christmas, it makes for a BUSY December!  I've got my To-Do list all made out and am checking things off as I go (and adding more each day..gulp!).  This week I am preparing for my December Club Classes with big hopes of getting all of my projects designed and cut out.  Wish me luck!
This card started out as a Club Card based on a sketch my BFF Erica drew up for me.  I just couldn't get all of the pieces to work together so I set it aside and came up with this card instead:
My color inspiration comes from the beautiful color combo over at Dynamic Duos. Their latest color challenge is to use Midnight Muse & Silver...so pretty together!  My apologizes for the poor quality of the photo...my camera has been acting up lately.  Maybe Santa will bring me a new one :)

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Very Vanilla, Midnight Muse, Silver Glimmer
Ink ~ Midnight Muse, VersaMark
Stamp Set ~ First Christmas
Other Supplies ~ Silver Embossing Powder, Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder

Now, I will get back to my original Club project and hope that the mojo hits so I can complete the card.

Everything Eleanor Christmas

Hi friends and happy Saturday!  Hope you have all recovered from any Black Friday shopping you may have done yesterday!  I had to work yesterday, so I did my shopping today.  And I'm happy to say that I am almost all done with all of my birthday (for my twins) and Christmas shopping...hooray!!!  Just a few more things that I have to order and I will be DONE!  And a huge bonus...I got home right before nap time for the baby and my hubby and twins were out hunting, so I had a couple of hours to stamp...yay!!!
My crafting partner in crime over at Sweet n Spiffy threw two fun challenges at me late last night, which I quickly accepted without even knowing what I was up against.  We both are making a card using a sketch from Retro Sketches and we are "Mashing up our Creativity with some inspiration over at the Friday Mashup.  Their challenge this week is to create a project using a non-holiday stamp set or image to create a holiday card.  And should you chose, you can mash it up with a messy technique like spritzing, smooching, shimmer painting or splattering with an aquapainter.

It took me a bit to come up with a non-holiday set to create a holiday card, but I finally found just the right one!

Here's my take on the two challenges:

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Festival of Prints DSP
Ink ~ Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler
Stamp Sets ~ Everything Eleanor, Greetings of the Season
Other supplies ~ Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder, Crochet Trim, Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz

I lightly sponged the embossed piece of Very Vanilla paper with Crumb Cake ink to give it a little bit of an antique look.  I also spritzed the Very Vanilla paper and flowers with the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.  It's hard to see in this picture, but the little bit of shimmer is really pretty.

Well, the baby is up and my hubby and twins are home...guess that means my free time is up!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Happy Turkey Day

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving!  I am beyond thankful and blessed for my family, my friends, my job, my health and so much more!  And I am also so very thankful for my stamping hobby!  Without it, I would have never met such a great group of people and made such awesome friends!  All of the encouraging and kind words shared are amazing and help keep all of us going in the creative world of crafting.  So, thank YOU!

As I was waiting for my pie to finish baking last night, I got a little stamping time in.  Here's another card that I made, just for Thanksgiving Day.

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Comfort Cafe DSP
Ink ~ Early Espresso
Stamp Set ~ Day of Gratitude
Other Supplies ~ Autumn Accents Bigz, Crochet Trim, Linen Thread Bronze Designer Button

Happy Thanksgiving friends!  May your day be filled with those that you love, memories to be made and so much more!

HSSTC145 ~ Fancy Folds

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!  I'm up late getting in some stamping time while I wait for my pecan pie to finish baking.  My house smells DELISH!  It's going to be hard to stay out of the pie in the morning.  Pecan pie and a hot cup of coffee....yum-o!  Wishful thinking ;)  Instead I'll be getting up and heading out to run with the turkey's (Turkey Trot 5k) so I can enjoy some of that pie with a little less guilt.

Christmas will be here before we know it...eek!  I've been working on my gift tags and a few other Christmas crafts.  I've got a few gift cards that I will be giving this year and have been coming up with some fun gift card holders.  The Fancy Folds technique challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments gave me a great idea for a gift card holder.   With a little help from a tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers, I made this fun Criss Cross Card.

The piece with the Merry Christmas sentiment pulls out.  I made a quick little gift card using MDS2...super easy!  This card would also make for a cute birthday or baby shower invitation.  Here's a look at the inside:
Supplies Used:

Paper ~ Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green, Primrose Petals Whisper White, Snow Festival DSP
Ink ~ Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green, Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie, Primrose Petals
Stamp Sets ~ Owl Occasions, No Peeking
Other Supplies ~ Scallop Circle Punch, Circle Punch, Argyle Embossing Folder, Dazzling Details

Fun little gift card holder and really easy to put together.  I'll be using this design again soon!

Now, I must get myself off to bed...I need a few good hours of sleep if I want to have any decent chance of running a good race.  Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!  Safe travels, time with your loved ones and full tummy's :)

Thanks is for Giving

Just when I thought my fall crafting mojo was gone, something hit me and I managed to cranked out a few more Thanksgiving cards tonight.  Love it when that happens!  The layout of this card is brought to you by the great sketch over at Try Stampin' on Tuesday.  Love this clean and simple design!

Supplies Used:

Paper ~ Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Orchard Harvest DSP
Ink ~ Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, More Mustard, Early Espresso
Stamp Sets ~ French Foliage, Seasonal Sayings
Other Supplies ~ Finishing Touches Edgelits, Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon, Early Espresso Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, Designer Ribbon Slides

This card is also being entered over at The Friday Mashup where their latest challenge is A Thankful Fall...create a project with leaves or a project saying Thank You.  Or "Mash It Up" and create a "Thank you project with Leaves".  Guess I mashed this one up :)

Thanks is most definitely for giving!  Be sure to give thanks this Thanksgiving for all you have in your life.

Freshly Made Sketches #61

Another weekend has come to an end...why must they go so fast?  I will say that I do feel refreshed and ready to take on a new week...and a {kind of} short week at that!  I still have to work on Friday, but it's guaranteed to be a s-l-o-w day!  The kiddos and I continued our family fun today with a visit to my hubby at the station.  Always a fun time for all 3 of my boys to play on the engines and ambulances, no matter how many times we've been there.  We took advantage of the little bit of sunshine and warmer temps and raked some leaves while the baby slept.  The said leaves are now all back in the yard thanks to the lovely wind that blew in tonight...LOL!  And this afternoon, my momma and my aunt came over for a little crafting therapy.  I am so blessed to have my parents living right next door and my aunt and uncle right across the street.  So awesome to have family so close!
One of the cards I made today was based on the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.  Thank you Jennifer T. for providing us with a great sketch this week!

This sketch was perfect for this cute little owl!

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Crumb Cake, Island Indigo, Whisper White, Gumball Green
Ink ~ Early Espresso, Raspberry Ripple, Island Indigo, Gumball Green, Pumpkin Pie, White Craft
Stamp Sets ~ Owl Occasions, Snowflake Soiree
Other Supplies ~ Corner Punch, Raspberry Ripple Satin Stitched Satin Ribbon

Time to wrap up my day and get to bed soon!  Early morning ahead of me with high hopes of getting some of my work computer problems from last week sorted out and be back in full working mode.

Framed Family

I was reminded today just how important it is to put everything that is going on in life on hold and just take time to spend with your family.  I spent my morning with my stampin' family making some fun Christmas cards...fun time had by all.  The rest of the day was spent with my own family and we did nothing but have fun!  My hubby and kiddos thought it would be fun for all of us, including Grandma and Grandpa, to go bowling.  So, after lunch, we all loaded up and had an awesome afternoon of bowling!  Sad to say, both of my almost 7 year old boys beat me not once, but TWICE.  They spent the rest of the day reminding me of this :)  To end the day, we had a family dinner and movie night.  We decided it was time to break out the Christmas movies...The Grinch Who Stole Christmas was the first pick of the season.  One of my favorites!  As I sat on the couch curled up with one of my boys, none of the stress that I have felt all week was there.  I was totally relaxed and it was so nice!  So, as we approach the crazy, busy holiday season, my goal is to remind myself of today and make the time to spend some quality time with my family.
Ok, now on to my card!  This week was super busy (and stressful) on the work side of life and I just didn't have it in me to get much stamping done.  I started on this card earlier in the week, but just got around to getting it finished this morning.  This card was inspired by a challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary
2012 Create Thursday-007
While I didn't stick with the sketch, I did create my card using the Floral Framelits.  The idea for this card came from Mary Fish over at Stampin' Pretty.  Her creations are always amazing and so inspiring!

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Basic Black, So Saffron, Whisper White
Ink ~ VersaMark
Stamp Set ~ Daydream Medallions
Other Supplies ~ Floral Frames Framelits, Basic Pearls (colored with a black Sharpie), Clear and Silver Embossing Powder

I had planned on using MDS2 to create my Christmas cards, but after making this, I may change my mind and make these :)  Either way, I better get started on them soon!

Looking forward to one more day of the weekend.  Not much on the agenda for tomorrow...hopefully that means a little bit of stampin' time for me :)

Happy Stamping!

Wonderfall News

Good news today for my good friend (and co-worker) Kerri...they are closing on their new house.  Hooray!!!  Kerri and her family have been waiting for this day since they bought the property and construction began.  I am beyond happy for all of them!  And of course I had to make them a card to celebrate this happy day :)
ColourQ has a great color combo this week...perfect colors that remind me of the bright and colorful fall we have had this year!  And I thought I'd give Try Stampin' on Tuesday a shot this week too....they have a fun sketch for everyone!

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Soft Suede, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Cajun Craze
Ink ~ Soft Suede, Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise
Stamp Set ~ Wonderfall, Boarder Banter
Other Supplies ~ Autumn Accents Bigz Die, Antique Brads

I thought I had some Old Olive ribbon in my stash, but I discovered I was wrong.  No worries...I made some faux stitched ribbon with a thin strip of Old Olive card stock, crinkled it up a bit and...voila!  Ribbon!

I created the inside sentiment using MDS2, which is starting to become an addiction!  So many fun things can be done using this awesome program!

Congrats Kerri and family!  I'm so happy for you guys!

Fall Romance

Good morning friends and Happy Monday!  It's a cold and rainy day here.  Wishing I had the day off from work to just hang with my kiddos, especially since one of them woke up not feeling well.  At least I still get to be home with them and it should be a quiet day at work, so all is good :)  I did have a little extra stamping time this morning since I didn't have to get the big boys up and ready for school...yay!
I promised myself I would make a few more fall projects before I got all crazy with Christmas stuff.  So this week, I am going to do my best to get a few fall projects created.  The color challenge over at Fab Friday is full of warm fall colors...love them!  And this mornings Mojo Monday sketch totally got my creativity flowing.

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Midnight Muse, Crumb Cake, More Mustard, Very Vanilla, Comfort Cafe DSP
Ink ~ Midnight Muse, More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake (sponged around the edges of the Very Vanilla)
Stamp Set ~ Artistic Etchings
Other Supplies ~ Midnight Muse Stitched Satin Ribbon, Scallop Trim Boarder Punch

I've never been to Paris, but I can only imagine how beautiful it is in the fall!  Maybe someday I'll have the chance to go.

Off to tend to my sick kiddo and the rest of the crew.  Thank goodness my hubby is home today to help!

Happy Stamping!

Happy Veteran's Day!  Thank you to all who have served or are currently serving our country...home of the brave, land of the free!
I stared my morning off with a VERY cold run, but the beautiful clear sky full of stars and just a sliver of a moon made it worth it!  Not to mention the freezing cold pushed me to run a little faster :)  We had our first sight of snow last night with more in the forecast for tomorrow...I think winter is here!
I started working on this card yesterday and got busy with a ton of other things and didn't have a chance to get back to it until today.  My inspiration for this card comes from a fun sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and the beautiful colors over at Color Me Beautiful.

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Primrose Petals, Very Vanilla, Candlelight Christmas DSP, Silver Glimmer
Ink ~ Primrose Petals (used to ink the Glimmer Paper and Rhinestones)
Other Supplies ~ Snow Flurry Die, Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder

I went back and forth on trying to decide if I wanted a sentiment on the outside of the card, but I just couldn't find one that worked with the rest of the card.  But if I find the right one, I just might go back and add it ;)

I invited my crafty pal Katie over at  Sweet n Spiffy to join me in these challenges, so head on over to her blog and check out her fantastic creation!

Hope you are all having a great weekend and staying warm!

Happy Stamping!

Greatful Heart

This week has reminded me just how much we have to be thankful and grateful for!  November is the month where everyone always expressed just how thankful they are for everything, and I think that is wonderful!  But November isn't the only time of year we have to be thankful...be thankful all year long!

The Paper Players has a great theme challenge this week, Give Thanks, which is very fitting for feeling so thankful.  And the beautiful color challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments gave me just the inspiration I needed!

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Very Vanilla
Ink ~ Early Espresso, More Mustard, Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant
Stamp Sets ~ Blooming with Kindness and French Foliage

I love how well these two sets come together...simple beauty :)

Off I go to my monthly staff meeting.  It's the one time a month I get to see my co-workers :)  I love everyone I work with, but I am so very thankful and grateful that I get to work from home!

Happy Friday and Happy Stamping!

Ok, I'll admit, I have a tough time coming up with ideas for masculine cards.  But I've been trying to come up with more creative ideas for some more masculine cards since I have so many dude's in my family!
Inspiration struck me this morning when I saw the great color challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary.  Add to it the fun challenge at CAS-ual Fridays and my mind went into crafting overload!
Here are the colors I had to work with...

Ink ~ Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Midnight Must

Post It Note holder and Card

Last weekend I participated in a local craft fair and had a few special requests for some items.  One of the requests was the fun Post It Note holder and matching card set.  Here are a couple that I have created...
I was so happy to make this set!  I LOVE the No Peeking set :)

Supplies Used:

Stamp Sets ~ Distressed Dots, No Peeking
Other Supplies ~ Scallop Circle Punch, Circle Punch, Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon, Whisper White Stitched Ribbon, Mini Gel Pen (non-SU)

And here is another set...

I forgot that I had some extra Simply Sent kits left over from last year, so I turned them into Christmas Cards!  You can't see it in the picture, but the card has some silver Glimmer Paper that peeks out through the scalloped edges of the card.  Very pretty!

Ink ~ Cherry Cobbler
Stamp Set ~ Snowflake Soiree
Other Supplies ~ Simply Sent Everyday Elegance kit (retired), Snow Flurry Die, Finishing Touches Edgelits, Whisper White Stitched Ribbon, Mini Gel Pen (non-SU)

These make a great little gift idea for a teacher, a friend, a carpool buddy...anyone!  I hope the recipients of these enjoy them!

Dynamic Monday

Happy Monday!  This is one of the better Monday's I have had in a long time!  Maybe it was that extra hour of sleep I got this weekend.  Or maybe it's the simple fact that it was just a good day!  And maybe it's because I finally got to get some stamping time in tonight...after I finished cleaning my disaster of a craft room.  YIKES!  I avoided doing any stamping all weekend because it was such a mess from my crafting madness last week.  But now that it's all clean and everything is back in it's place, I can stamp happy again.  And just in time because my good friend Katie over at Sweet n Spiffy had a fun challenge combo for me to play around with this week.
We got to play with a fun sketch and rosette challenge from The Friday Mashup! and a great color combo from The Dynamic Duos

I broke out the Happy Hour set for this project.  I forgot how much I loved this set!  And I inked up some of the Glimmer Paper  and my rhinestone with some Gumball Green ink...FUN!

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Orchard Harvest DSP, Be of Good Cheer DSP, Silver Glimmer Paper
Ink ~ Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple
Stamp Set ~ Happy Hour
Other Supplies ~ Scallop Circle Punches, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Snow Flurry Bigz, Basic Rhinestones, Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder

Frazzled Friday

What a week this has been!  Super busy at work and even busier at home...I'm feeling a bit frazzled!  I've had a week full of early mornings and late nights trying to prepare for my classes this month AND a holiday bazaar tomorrow.  I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to that extra hour of sleep tomorrow!
I did manage to squeeze in a little "just because" stamping time.  I made a card earlier in the week with the same elements, but used the great sketch from Fab Friday for this one.  The color palette came from Color Me Beautiful Color Challenge Blog.  I just recently came across their blog and I'm hooked!  Such great color combos!

 Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Summer Starfruit, Raspberry Ripple, Very Vanilla
Ink ~ Perfect Plum, Crumb Cake, Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit, Early Espresso
Stamp Sets ~ Quint-Essential Flower, Bella Boutique Wheel
Other Supplies ~ Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder, Essentials Paper Piercing Pack, 2 3/8" and 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch, 1" and 3/4" Circle Punch, In Color Dahlias

The Lacy Brocade embossing folder is my favorite right now.  I love how it gives a simple card a little extra class :)

Time to wrap things up for the night and get ready for a full day of Holiday Bazaar fun!

Postage Due - FMS59/PPA146

Hello November and Happy Thursday!

What a fun Halloween night we all had!  We took the kids to a few houses in the neighborhood, visited the grandparents and were still home well before bedtime.  And we even managed to avoid any candy sampling last night...Halloween success!!!

My hubby broke away from his hunting camp for the night so he could join us for our Halloween fun.  We are all looking forward to him being back home on Sunday!  I took advantage of him being home this morning and got up at dark o'clock to go for a run and still had some stamping time before my work day started...yay!!!

Cindy over at Freshly Made Sketches has a great sketch for us this week!  I love their clean and simple sketches!  So, I had some ideas in mind for what stamp set(s) to use, but was stumped with my colors.  But Pals Paper Arts came to my rescue with a great Color Challenge!

PPA 146 Nov 1 2012
I have to say, Riding Hood Red is not a color that I often use, but paired up with Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla, it's beautiful!  I used Early Espresso as my neutral color, which really made the Very Vanilla stand out.

 Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Riding Hood Red, Crumb Cake
Ink ~ Riding Hood Red, Early Espresso
Stamp Sets ~ Postage Due, En Francais, French Foliage
Other Supplies ~ Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder, Postage Stamp Punch, Square Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon

Crazy how fast this week and this year has gone by!  Time to get things in gear and start getting ready for, gulp...Christmas!  And I've I have a big 7 year old birthday party to plan for my two sweet big boys :)  Angry Birds...time to put my punches to use!

Happy Stamping!!!
