What's a birthday party...

...without goodie bags???  I recently subscribed to the Create with Connie & Mary New Catalog Edition 2012 and came up with this fun idea for goodie bags after I saw one of the tutorials.  If you haven't had a chance to check out their site, do it today!
They have great challenges and offer the chance to subscribe to their exclusive tutorials from the annual catalog as well as the mini catalogs.  There were some great project ideas in this last round!!!  One of the weekly challenges during the New Catalog Edition was to create a project using the Big Shot.  I made a fun box using the largest die in the Apothecary Accents set.  You can check out that box in an earlier post seen here:

http://craft-somniamomma.blogspot.com/2012/07/its-over-100-degrees-and-im-dreaming-of.html
I took this idea and made it into a more simple design for goodies boxes for Owen's 1st Birthday party.  I hadn't had the chance to download my picture and short tutorial for this, but this weeks challenge over at HandStamped Sentiments got my rear in gear and I got it done!  The challenge is to create some kind of party favor, but it could NOT be a card!
http://www.handstampedsentiments.blogspot.com/
Here is my fun little goodie bag!
HSSABAC129
Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Polka Dot Parade DSP, Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Big Top Birthday DSP (retired)
Ink ~ Real Red
Stamp Set ~ Itty Bitty Banners
Other Supplies ~ Apothecary Accents Framelits (largest die), 3/4' Circle Punch, Bitty Banners Framelits, 1/4" Daffodil Delight Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, 3/8" Brights Glimmer Brads, Simply Scored, lollipop stick(not a Stampin' Up! product)
For the party I filled some of the 4" x 6" cellophane bags with jelly beans, stickers and a pencil.  The kids loved them!
Goodies all wrapped up!

Here are some instructions on how I created this fun little goodie bag:

Cut two pieces of DSP or card stock using the largest die from the Apothecary Accents.
Score and fold each piece across the second little scallop on one side (marked with a black line)  This will create the bottom of your bag.

Cut a 4" x 3" sheet of card stock or DSP
Score at 1" on all sides (marked with black line)

Fold on all score lines
Along the 4" side of the paper, cut down towards the other 4" side to the 1" score line

Flip over and apply adhesive to the small flaps that you have cut (I found that Sticky Strip works best)
Apply adhesive to the bigger flaps on the opposite side (side facing down in this picture)
Fold flaps in to create box

Overlapping the flaps you made from scoring the Apothecary cut outs, apply adhesive to one side to form the bottom of the treat bag

Attach the box to the inside of the Apothecary cut outs

And there you have it!  Quick and simple way to create a fun little goodie bag for your next party or to use as a small gift bag.  Should you choose to do any stamping on the outside, be sure to do that before you glue all of the pieces together :)  I punched a hole in the top and tied a quick ribbon to keep the tops of the bag together.  You could also attach a cute punch flower or something fun with a brad!

Happy Stamping!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

A huge thank you to all of our family and friends who helped us celebrate Owen's first birthday!  It was such a fun day and he loved every minute of it!  The amount of gifts this little man received just goes to show how loved, and SPOILED, he is!!
I sat down last night after all of the kiddos were in bed and got to work on some thank you cards.  I knew I needed to keep things simple since I had quite a few to do.  The Moving Forward is such a fun set for any kiddo related card, so I pulled that set out and got to work.  Added a few different embossing folders for some added texture, some fun Polka Dot Parade DSP and this is what I got:

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Whisper White, Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Marina Mist, Polka Dot Parade DSP
Ink ~ Midnight Muse, Gumball Green
Stamp Set ~ Moving Forward
Other Supplies ~ Embossign Folders: Perfect Polka Dots, Chevron & Stripes, 3/16" Corner Punch

Sweet, simple and very quick to put together!  Just what I need with everything else I have going on.  I just decided to set up a booth at the Dayton Fair at the beginning of September...eek!!  Lots to be done to get ready for that, in addition to my clubs and swaps to be made for the Tacoma Regional at the end of September.  I guess one could say I will be one busy Stampin' fool these next few weeks!!!  Good thing my stamping keeps me sane :D

Happy Stamping!

I really shouldn't be stamping...

...but I need a little calm before the storm!  Big day today full of birthday party fun for Owen :)  My sweet boy turns ONE tomorrow, but we are celebrating with friends and family today.  I have a million things to get done, but I needed just a little a stamping time before the chaos kicks in!
It's been a while since I've been able to participate in a Saturday Sketch Challenge over at Stamping 411.   Their sketch this week is a fun one!  It took me a little bit to figure out which stamp set to use, but I finally settled on the Tweet Leaves, which will be available on August 1st in the new Holiday Catalog.

With all of the birthday party planning and crafting, I haven't had much time to plan out my cards for my August club, but I have one now!  I think my group will have fun using all of the new goodies I used for this card.  I love the new Ribbon Slides and the Woodgrain Embossing Folder!!!

Wedding Subway Art

Another weekend is almost upon us as well as another wedding.  Sadly, we won't be able to attend this one as we will be celebrating my sweet Owen's 1st Birthday!!!  But we wish Amy and Jeff all the best and know that they will have an amazing day.
Their wedding invites totally inspired me to try and make my own subway art for their wedding card.

Keep Calm...

...and hit the beach!  If I had my way, I'd live closer to the ocean so I could have my toes in the sand every day!  Nothing beats the sights and sounds of the ocean...it's my calm place :)  Growing up, my parents took me to the Washington and Oregon coast every year for vacation.  Now that I have kids of my own, we take our annual family vacations along the Oregon coast too!  In just a few short weeks we will be spending a little over a week in Pacific City, OR....just can't wait!!
http://www.handstampedsentiments.blogspot.com/
This weeks Inspiration Challenge at HandStamped Sentiments is Beach/Pacific Coast HWY...the best beaches are found along this coast line!!  Sadly, I do not have any current beach related stamp sets, but I do have one of my favorites from a few years ago...Do the Hula.  I love the surfboard stamp in this set!  I have never surfed, but it is something that is on my bucket list.  Maybe I can check that off this year...maybe!!
I've been on a edgelit and punch kick these past few weeks.  There are so many fun things you can do with them.  Here's what I had fun creating today:

With some help of the Monday Mojo sketch, I had some fun with the new Friendships Preserves Set.  Add a little Orchard Harvest DSP, one of the Designer Ribbon Slides and the Woodgrain Embossing Folder, my card is complete!

Owen is turning ONE!

In just a little over a week, my sweet baby boy Owen will be ONE!  I have no idea where the last year has gone, but I know it has been full of lots of love, adventures and just plain ol' FUN!  I'm in full birthday party mode and working on getting all of the decorations made for the big party.  The theme is Sock Monkey and Pinwheels...fun and bright colors!!!
Today's sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches gave me a great idea for table decorations for the party.  Fun little pinwheel card with a Happy Birthday Sentiment.  If you haven't checked out Freshly Made Sketches yet, you MUST.  They have great weekly sketch challenges.  Their awesome designs always help me come up with great ideas for my card or project layouts!

A toast to the Bride & Groom...

One more wedding card done and ready for this weekends wedding.  My mom asked me to make a card for my brother-in-law's wedding, but I was running low on creative juices.  I knew I wanted to do something with the cute champagne class from the Embellished Events set, but just wasn't sure what.
But thanks to a little help from HandStamped Sentiments the creative juices started flowing again.  The challenge for this week is to use the Dazzling Diamond Dust Technique and you can find a great technique for this over at Splitcoast Stampers.
Using this technique, along with some rhinestones, these cute little champagne glasses have just the right amount of wedding sparkle!

Christmas in July...

...continues with this beautiful Christmas Deer!

Last night was my Christmas in July Stamp Club and this was one of the cards I had for everyone to make.  It was a hit!  It was a very simple design and layout, but the Dazzling Diamonds really made the card.  The embossing idea was CASE'ed (Copied And Share Everything) from the 2012-2013 catalog, but I added my own twist with the paper pleating.  All of my club members loved the look of the pleats and were happy to learn a "new trick".
I found a great paper pleating tutorial on the Splitcoast Stampers site:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/paperpleating/

Suppiles Used:
Paper ~ Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Neutrals Collection DSP, Be of Good Cheer DSP
Ink ~ Cherry Cobbler, VersaMark
Stamp Set ~ Christmas Deer
Other Supplies ~ Heat Tool, Heat & Stick Powder, Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter, 3/8" Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon, Simply Scored (paper pleating)

Stay tuned for more birthday cards and a few wedding cards...the next few weeks are chock full of celebrations!

Wishing you all a great weekend!
Happy Stamping

On to birthday card for twin # 2!  My color inspiration for this card came from Create with Connie and Mary...one of my favorite blogs!!!
2012 Create Challenges-026
Since I used the Moving Forward set for little Miss Marli, I thought I would also use it for Mr. Lucas as well...being twins and all :)  I typically only use my punches along with a coordinating stamp, so using them to create part of the scene was "out of the box" for me.  I had fun using the edgelit to create my ocean too!  I still may play around with this one a bit(and consult with my bff stamping partner in crime)...not sure about the clouds, but for now I'll go with this.

CCMC210

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, So Saffron, Pool Party, Comfort Cafe DSP (used for the ocean waves)
Ink ~ Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive Stampin' Write Markers, Cherry Cobbler, So Saffron, Pool Party

Other Supplies ~ Chevron Embossing Folder, Adorning Accents Edgelits, Word Window Punch, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, Cupcake Builder (clouds)

Here is take #2 with an added cloud in Pool Party...thanks to my bff crafting partner for the suggestion!

July and August are full of birthdays and weddings!  I'm doing my best to stay ahead of the game with all of my cards for each and every celebration.
With the help of a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, I came up with a cute birthday card for a very sweet baby girl who will be celebrating her first birthday in August.  (She has an equally sweet twin brother...stay tuned for his card!)
I used the "Blimp" stamp from the Moving Forward set along with the Patio Party DSP.  I loved how the little banners on the "Blimp" went along with the DPS.  I also added some cute little butterflies from the Make a Cake set to give it a little extra sweetness for a sweet little girl!

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Primrose Petals, Whisper White, Midnight Muse, Patio Party DSP
Ink ~ Primrose Petals and Midnight Muse Stampin' Write Markers
Stamp Sets ~ Moving Forward, Make a Cake

I love that Stampin' Up! donates money and time to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.  RMHC is a great organization and has helped families that are very near and dear to my heart.  I will never forget the first time I visited a Ronald McDonald House...AMAZING is the only word I have to describe the facility, the staff and all of the support they have to offer the families that stay there.  The Moving Forward set in the 2012-2013 Catalog is super cute and when you purchase this set $3 is donated to RMHC.

I know I already posted once today, but the man in brown paid me a visit this afternoon and I could NOT WAIT to tear in to my box of stamping goodness!!!
I absolutely fell in love with the Perfectly Preserved stamp set when saw it in the Holiday Catalog and I just had to put together a card as soon as I pulled this set out of the box.  And with the new bundles available, I was even more excited!!!  There are many new stamp sets bundled with coordinating Framelits....AWESOME!  I may or may not have purchased a few of them...you'll just have to wait and see :)
I can see many fun cards and projects to be made this fall using this set as well as the coordinating DSP and fabric...I'm so excited!!  But for now, I'll start with this...

Back in to the swing of things after a 5 day stay-cation!  Sadly, I can't say that I had much time for stamping because I was too busy playing with my family, but it was just what we all needed!  But I was itching to get some ink on my stamps this morning before I started my work day. And there is only one way to start a Monday...with some Mojo Monday!  I love the sketch this week!
I pulled out my Color Coach for a little added inspiration, chose my stamp set and this is what I got!  If you don't have a Color Coach, it is a must have tool...it is a great tool to use when you are stumped with color combos.

It's over 100 degrees and I'm dreaming of Christmas...Christmas in July!  I can not wait for the man in brown to come knocking at my door tomorrow with my Holiday Catalog pre-order items!!!  I was so bummed it wasn't delivered on Friday :(
To help keep my crafting mind occupied, I decided to play along with Connie and Mary's Week 3 Theme Challenge.  This past week there were some great projects made using the Simply Scrappin' Kits, which got me really excited to work some more on my boys' scrapbooks...big plans for my vacation next month!
The challenge this week was to use a new Big Shot item (such as the Framelits, Dies, Embossing Folders, etc).  I've been playing around with the larges die from the Apothecary Accents Framelits set and wanted to make a little gift/treat box.  This challenge got the creative juices flowing and this is what I came up with:

CCMC - NC3

I had a really hard time getting a good pictures of this, but I hope you can see how I used the Framelit in this.  I cut out 4 Framelits and scored them across the second set of scallops to create the bottom of my box.  For the inner part of the box, I also scored on the opposite side at the second set of scallops to create the little envelope style flap.  I then wrapped the outer layer of the box around and secured with the brad used in the center of the flower.  (When I don't have two 6 year old boys patiently waiting to go swimming, I will put together some step by step pictures and tutorial)

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Be of Good Cheer DSP
Ink ~ Cherry Cobbler
Stamp Set ~ Snow Swirled
Other Supplies ~ Apothecary Accents Framelits (largest one), Fun Flowers Bigz L, Antique Brads

Be sure to watch for more Christmas projects coming this week...It's Christmas in July for my monthly stamp club and I've got lots of fun projects planned!

Stay cool and Happy Stamping!

Happy 4th of July!!!
I knew I wanted to make something fun in honor of this awesome day and with the help of a sketch idea from Freshly Made Sketches, I did!

I love the 4th of July and all that it means for our great country!  Our neighborhood has an annual parade for all of the kids, which we all look forward to every year.  The pinwheels I have to decorate my boys bikes for the parade inspired me a little on this card :)
