World's Greatest Dad

Happy Monday stampin' friends!

Believe it or not, I'm kind of happy it's Monday!  We spent a better part of the weekend working on things at our house, so I'm looking forward to sitting at my desk today and getting a little "rest"!

After spending most of yesterday painting, I finally called it quits and spent a little time in my craft room and played with some ink and paper so I could play along with this month's SSINK Mystery Challenge.  I have already used up all of my 2014-2016 In Color cardstock, so I had to get a little more creative with the 3 items to use from the challenge. I decided to use the circle shape embossing folder for a masculine card...ta-daaaaa!!
I love The Open Sea stamp set and am pretty sad to see it go.  But I am pretty excited about all of the new goodies that are coming our way June 1st, so it makes losing some of my favorites a little more bearable!
Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Typeset DSP
Ink ~ Basic Black
Stamp Sets ~ The Open Sea, Guy Greetings
Other Supplies ~ World Map Embossing Folder, Circle Framelits

I have to say...I have the world's greatest dad!  He took time out of his day yesterday to help me complete a project we were working on in one of the bedrooms at our house.  I appreciate his help so much and will missing having him right next door if our house does sell!  Thanks Dad!

Happy stamping to all of you!

Happy Veterans Day

Happy Veterans Day!

Today we celebrate our U.S. military service men and women and thank them for their service to our country.  My great grandpa was in World War I and wrote a journal documenting his experience.  My older boys have been reading this journal and are excited to share it with their class today.  I love that they show such an interest in this and have such a great love for our country.
Supplies Used:
Paper ~ mossy Meadow, Soft Sky, Smoky Slate, Whisper White, Schoolhouse DSP
Ink ~ Mossy Meadow, Smoky Slate, Basic Black
Stamp Sets ~ For Your Country, The Open Sea
Other Supplies ~ Circle Framelits

Again, a big THANK YOU to all of our service men and women!

Happy Veterans Day and Happy Stamping!

Father's Day at Sea

Hooray!  We made it through another week and are on to the weekend!  Today is my older boys last day of school...they are so excited for summer break.   Even more so because one week from day we will be hitting the road for a little vacation to the beach.  We'll be there over Father's Day, so this weeks Friday Mashup gave me the chance to make the perfect Father's Day card.
This weeks challenge is to make a Father's Day card and mash it up by using Cajun Craze, Garden Green and Island Indigo.
I wasn't sure that I could make these colors work together, but once I started stamping with The Open Sea, it all came together!
Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Island Indigo, Cajun Craze, Very Vanilla, Typset DSP
Ink ~ Cajun Craze, Island Indigo, Garden Green
Stamp Sets ~ The Open Sea, Choose Happiness, World Map
Other Supplies ~ Banner Framelits, Chevron Ribbon, Linen Thread, Label Bracket Punch

Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team creations and don't forget to play along!

Happy Stamping!

Set Sail on the Open Sea

Setting sail on the {warm} open sea sounds so good to me right now...dreams are free right?  It's what I have to get me through these endless days of cold, wintery weather.  We are on day two of two hour school delays due to freezing rain.  I wouldn't be surprised to see it canceled if the rain doesn't stop...it's a slippery, yucky mess out there!  So, I'm just gonna keep on dreaming of those warm open seas and sail through this winter :-)
Freshly Made Sketches has another great sketch this week that got my creative juices flowing and inspired me to pull out an old favorite...
Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Typeset DSP
Ink ~ Memento, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Baked Brown Sugar, Tempting Turquoise, Pool Party, Real Red
Stamp Set ~ The Open Sea
Other Supplies ~ Linen Thread

I've kind of been addicted to the Typeset DSP lately and love the map image...it pairs perfectly with this stamp set!

Off to get ready for my stamp club tonight.  I hope the weather clears up so all of my stamping friends can make it here safely!

Happy Stamping!

Thinking of you on the Open Sea

I've needed a few masculine "Thinking of You" cards this week and the Sketch Challenge over at Try Stampin' On Tuesday was great for this card!
It's been a while since I've played with my Open Sea set and I forgot how much I like it. I wasn't sure about stamping the partial images on the squares, but in the end I was pretty happy with how it turned out.  Simple card, but perfect for the friend who will receive it :)

Supplies Used:

Paper ~ Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake
Ink ~ Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy
Stamp Sets ~ The Open Sea, Sweet Essentials
Other Supplies ~ Metallic Brads, Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine, Square Punch

Head on over to TSOT and check out all of the great Design Team projects as well as all of the other entries!

Happy Stamping!
